Hardware RAID is standard with every Cerise Quad-Core Workstation.

The Cerise Quad-Core Workstation is based on an Intel workstation motherboard and features hardware RAID. This enables the hard drives in a system to read or write data about twice as fast as a software RAID controller and at least 3 times as fast as a single drive. In addition, since hardware RAID carries out its own processing without offloading it to the CPU, the performance of the CPU is unaffected.

For videography, photography or any other application where large multimedia files are “trapped” on the hard drive, this makes a huge difference to system performance. With hardware RAID, the bottleneck that has traditionally existed between the hard drive and the CPU is now much wider. This also ensures that the full potential of multi-core CPU’s is exploited since it enables the processor to be continually fed with data.
